I am trying to update my discover media navigation but it
gets to create a backup and keeps saying.
insufficient disk space.
the available disk space is not sufficient, please free disk
space and try again.
I have got 145 GB free space on OS ( C).

When i do it, i just download the relevant zip file myself, then extract it.

I move the original folder off of the nav sd card to a folder on my computer, then move the new extracted folder into it's place. It's very easy and I've never had a problem doing it that way.

I used windows unzip extract all, that did not work when I put
that on the sd card. I must be doing some thing wrong.
I moved the flie from vw sd card and saved it to desktop
so I have put it back on the sd card so my sat nav still
works.

the issue i had was that the current UK/Euro map pack i have has now gone over 16gig so you can't put it on the SD card. i tried a larger card but VW has locked the maps to their particuar card, it seems. there's an alternative pack of cut-down Euro coverage so i just used that, having no plans to ever drive abroad.

I used 7ZIP to extract the file and then, i format the VW SD card to fats 32 and then moved this file to the card.
Discovermedia2-eu-dL3-1730-v14(1)
when i click on properties it reads maps/ then two folders OO and ELC.
then put the sd card in slot 1 in the car and it said.
the source contains the navigation database.
then it says navigation database not available.

Why did you format the card?

You move the CONTENTS of the Discovermedia... folder over to the card. In my case that is a "maps" folder, with its subfolders etc.

Someone on a forum said they had format
The sd card. I will have to go to a vw
Main dealer and get a new card.
Anyone know the part number.
I am using my iPhone for a sat nav
At the moment.

I don't think formatting it will necessarily cause a problem, I just wondered why you'd done it, I've never needed to. Its just a very normal case of moving files around between a computer and an SD card.
