VW Passat 2003 Diesel TDi saloon Airbag problem

I put a Code fault finder onto my car and recieved the following info.
Component: 08 Airbag VW61 04 0003
Coding 12344
Shop #: WSC 0028
VCID: 24405221845526A446-5158
1 Fault found
0122 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag; Passenger side (G180)
30-00 - open or Short to plus.

Tried to rmove fault but it would not go.
It is not the battery could it be the wiring? If it is could anyone give me an apprx. cost.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

The sensor is on the floor under the seat screwed to the cross reinforcement. When water inevitably comes in through the heater the sensor gets soaked and rots the wiring, we had to scrap our A4 over this last year as the sensor was obsolete and rare.
