Depends on the engine choice but with ALL Golf 6 models, fastidiously check the paint around the wing tops, tailgate edges (under glass, around lights and at the bottom), bonnet and the doors for rust... they are not holding up well and I see ones more scabby than the typical Golf 4. Also the rear floor underside is VERY prone to extensive rust, I have poked a hole in quite a few floors now and the rear suspension costs a fortune to rebuild. Rear (oddly mostly the right) calipers are very prone to seizure.
Being very old school when I do an oil change I always give any areas that look dodgy a good lashing of old oil
with a big brush ,looking ok so far 2012 mk6 , changed my pads all round too but they didn't really need doing
I must have been bored
