Afternoon All

Had the Emission Control Lamp illuminate yesterday on my Golf GTD MK7. So I hooked it up to my friends diagnostic software. The below is what was reported:

1 Fault Found:
18825 - Coolant Pump for Intercooler
P190E 00 [175] - Supply Voltage
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1

Having read online it could be various things - just wondering if anybody had experienced the same fault and what they did about it? We did wipe the error code and the warning light but the light has re-appeared today, any advice is more than welcome

This is becoming a common Golf 7 problem and in the winter you will probably get a low heat output problem from the heating system. The pump is a common failure and it can be caused by system debris which is becoming something of an annual pain in the rear silencer with the Golfi 7. Also after the cooling system is opened it must be bled by running the intercooler AND heater matrix booster pump or you will almost certainly get a dry running fault code come up for the heater booster pump and the heating will be very poor.

They have to be disconnected and pushed to one side to do the oil filter, what makes me swear is putting the cover back on and the car back on the deck, then realising I haven't plugged it back in... bloody annoying!

I have seen, on a TTRS, where the pump leaked into the plug section, as this is water tight externally, it forced coolant along the core of both wires down to the multiplug at the front of the engine. It came in running badly and showing the pump code which would not clear with a new one, I followed the wiring diagram, located the plug and when disconnected, I got a face full of coolant. All 14 pins and sockets were damaged by copper oxide and it was an involved job to rebuild.

Hello - in the end it wasn't the pump that was at fault. I'm not sure if you get a garage to do the engine oil change or you do it yourself but with mine the garage had forced the wires to one side instead of unplugging the connector to the pump (when performing the oil change) so weakening the wire connection and ultimately causing a break in the wire. So I spliced in some new wires and bought a new pig tail connector off Ebay and its as good as new, hope that helps
Hey, been trying to find this wiring/connector on ebay and not having any luck, you able to send me a link?

I get the part number to be and the cost £5.08 retail inc. VAT from a VAG dealer or TPS. The dealer/TPS can also supply you the repair wire abs wire seals, I can’t give you the numbers as I don’t have access to the dealer parts system at home.
