Further thoughts....

1) Did you buy it from a VW dealer? If so one should have been included! If not, then it is a case of buyer beware (depending on the consumer protection laws wherever you are).
2) Do your registration documents identify the previous owner? If so, perhaps you could contact him/her to see if he/she still has it at home?

I provided a link to VW UK in my post above... but you won't find any reference to a Golf Sportwagon as we do not have any Golfs by that name. We have a Golf Estate, or Golf SV (the latter being called the Golf Sportsvan in Europe).

If it was supplied by VW UK, you could see the online manual by entering your VIN or registration number. If you are not in the UK, then you need to ask the correct VW importers!

 

The Sportwagen is not a UK model I believe - you have a US model ?

The dealer that I just purchased my 2016 VW Golf Sportwagen S refuses to provide me an owners manual for my vehicle.

There is no VW Golf Sportwagen 1.8 in the UK. I wouldn't say its a Golf Sportsvan (SV) as they don't fit a 1.8 engine.

You will get an owner handbook from a dealer, but you don't want to pay for one do you?

I have searched everywhere online and their are no digital owners manuals for the 2016 VW Golf Sportwagen that I can find and my local parts department does not sell hard copies. If you can provide me with a link it would be greatly appreciated.

 

This is the place to see an online copy of the manuals for UK-supplied VWs, and it also states "

To get a printed copy of your manual please contact your local Volkswagen retailer who will advise on cost and arrival date.​

But are you in the UK? Your car would be called a Golf Estate here.

It's on the VW website in online form. At least in the Uk that is. Otherwise you will have to buy a hard copy manual if the dealership won't get you one. Speak to parts department.
