I picked up a new Passat GT 2.0 DSG back in April but immediately heard a rattling noise coming from the rear of the car as I was going over small bumps, which seems worse at low speeds. I've had it into the garage and through a process of ilimination they have found that the noise comes from a 1 metre square piece of flexible trim/guard, which is underneath the car below the boot. When going over the bumps it acts like a kind of wobble board, which is really annoying. The garage have said this is normal for this new car but agreed that the flimsy design of the guard was not very good.
Is anyone else having this problem with the new Passat? I love the car but this noise really spoils it for me.
I'm amazed that nobody else is unhappy with this. The retailer says that they know there is a noise but it affects all the new Passats because of the addition of the flimsy guard fitted underneath the boot. I guess I'm 'tuned-in' to that noise now but it's really annoying!
