Vw Crafter 2012 Coolant pump B fault

Hi all - we have been having an ongoing issue with my dads 2012 crafter. Vehicle had the amber coil light flashing and went into limp mode. Took the vehicle into the garage and found fault code P261A coolant pump b open circuit & the heater valve was leaking coolant. Both of these were replaced with genuine parts from TPS and a DPF regen carried out due to high soot content. Only after a few days of using the vehicle, the same amber coil light returned flashing and vehicle back in limp mode. Plugged in and same fault code present. Vehicle throughly checked but could not locate fault. Went to VW for diagnosis and they couldn’t determine if the pump was faulty or another cause. Pump was replaced under warranty, vehicle used for a few days and coil light flashing and van back in limp mode.
Has anyone had this issue and how did they solve it? VW wanting to put an ECU on but cannot say if that will cure the fault. Struggling to find someone where to test the ECU also as been told it’s a unique ECU.

This coolant pump B fault is such a pain on all VAG products but on the Crafter, more than a PITA! IF, and only if, the wiring is known to be perfect and only if a genuine pump is fitted (as has been done), then the only possible next step is the ECU and it only makes sense to fit a genuine one due to how common this problem is. The dealer is in an awkward position here as the Guided Fault Finding flow chart will just say new ECU at this point but it is a horrible gamble playing with circa £2k of someone else's money. There were a lot of changes in 2011/12 so what is the VIN?

It is a 2013 model built 07.09.2012. I have to service and MOT a T-Roc now so I will dig over lunch.

Was the part number of the pump fitted 059 121 012 A? The pump in question is under the slam panel tucked up above the radiator, there is another electric pump on the bulkhead and people often replace the wrong pump.

Yeah, same part number. Not sure on exact location but it’s to the left of the engine when facing the front of the vehicle. Not the one behind the engine, that’s coolant pump A

P261A 00 [175] - Open circuit
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

I am not a Crafter expert and I am struggling to work out which one it is on the diagrams, V51
Pump for coolant circulation or V400 Pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler and the code does not help
in not giving an SDC code, i.e. V51 or V400
