Yes they are a bit of grief where the actuators are concerned but there are repair kits for J724 errors.
I got the fault diagnosed at my local garage.
Went back in today for something else, and low and behold there is the same model car sitting as mine with the exact same fault.
Do you know if VW have acknowledged there is a recurring fault with this engine type?
They must know there's an issue!

For VW to even circulate an internal and confidential notice (called a TPI) the problem has to be significant and even then the dealer will deny all knowledge and they probably don’t know as they don’t care, it is just a job… like so much of life, a broken system killed by apathy.

Would you know the part number which I require for my car?

11872 ( P22D3) - Turbocharger Inlet Valve - Stuck Closed. MIL ON - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

Repair set SHOULD solve the problem but I have also had to get the turbo rebuilt, the J724 as it is known has to be adapted to the ECU. The number is 03N 198 716 F and it costs ÂŁ340.80

Hi, did this solve the issue?

Same part number 03N 198 716 F but now ÂŁ64.80 more at ÂŁ405.60

No adaption required but it is a good idea to make sure it works in Basic Settings, it is in the VCDS menu.
