Hello everyone.
I have an issue with my 2019 VW Passat b8 2.0 tdi coolant temperature. It rises from cold in 2-3 min to max. I had red warning to stop the car. It cools down to 90 after 3-4 minutes and it rises gradually. I stop again and after few minutes works fine. It stays at 90 for 200 miles. It happened two times in 3 months since I've bought the car.
I have changed the thermostat as the local garage mechanic suggested and between the incidents.
Any ideas?
Thanks

There is no record from Johnson’s VW that the cam belt has been done as VW have changed the interval so they can’t say it is due until March 2027 at 140k miles. My expectation is the water pump variable displacement ring is stuck closed and the cause of the problem so they would fit the revised version 04L 121 011 N (introduced March 2020 and your car was built 20.12.2018) with revised toothed belt kit 04L 198 119 K.
