Hello everyone,,
I just purchased a 2010 VW Golf DSG 1.4 with 48k miles on it from a private seller. We took it to the local garage who did a full service on it including replacing the coils and spark plugs. The diagnostic log still shows 3 faults found in the automatic transmission:

006079- Hydraulic Pump
P17BF Play protection intermittent
x2

and

006011 clutch 1
P177B 003 Tolerance Limit reached Intermittent

When we brought the car in, the first diagnostic showed the 2 hydraulic pump faults but the clutch fault didnt appear.

It also shows 2 faults in the engine:

000768 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0300 000

and

000770 Cylinder 2
P0302 000 Misfire Detected MIL ON

The repair man said he thinks there is a broken spring in the cylinder since it wasnt fixed with the spark plugs and new coil. He didnt mention the problems in the transmission. He said he doesn't usually work with automatics and we should get it checked at an official VW dealer which we have scheduled for next week.

Until then:
Any idea what these faults mean? I am mostly finding info about spark plugs and coil but those have just been replaced.
Is it safe to drive until then? My biggest concern is further damaging the engine essentially making the car worthless.
If anyone knows what the faults mean, do you have any idea what the repairs will cost?

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

EOBD II Error Code: P17BF

Fault Location:
Hydraulic Pump (Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG)) - Play Protection

Possible Cause:
-

Tech Notes:
There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for this fault code.
Transaction No.: 2027842/1.
35 R-tronic: no gears can be selected, hydraulic pump runs constantly.
Release date: Nov 22, 2011.

VW Touran DSG problem

VAG Error Code: 006011
EOBD II Error Code: P177B

Fault Location:
Clutch 1 - Tolerance Limit Reached

Possible Cause:
7 Speed DSG.

Excessive play between the clutch actuator and engagement lever.

Clutch Actuators (N433), (N434), (N435), (N436), (N437), (N438], (N439) faulty.

7-Speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG/0AM)

VAG Error Code: 16686/15128/10592/7115/8736/4057/000770
EOBD II Error Code: P0302

Fault Location:
Cylinder 2 - Misfire Detected

Possible Cause:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)(K83) active.
Lack/loss of power.
Hard start.
Engine hesitation.

Wiring/Connector(s).
Ignition system.
Fuel injectors.
Fuel pressure.
Running out of fuel.
EVAP canister purge valve.
Evaporative emission system.
Low compression.
Base engine problems.
Engine Control Module (ECM) damaged.

Possible Solutions:
Check/Replace all faulty Wiring/Connector(s).
Do a compression test.
Read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 15 if misfire changes location.

Special Notes:
This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

Tech Notes:
The P0302 code means that the cylinder 2 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 2. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem.

Description:
When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor [G28]/Crankshaft Position Sensor [G28] signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

The reason the car was sold is the previous owner was told it needed a new Mechatronic unit and a cylinder head rebuild, which comes to around ÂŁ4K...

I think the first car needs a new mechatronic unit and probaly a clutch kit, we do lots of these on the DQ200 transmission.
