Chris, could I have the trucks VIN?

Mine had to be replaced. It was bought as an ex demonstrator from VW dealer. As 3 weeks out of warranty not interested at all despite only 15k miles. Had to pay 2k to get it repaired. Now going to ombudsman claiming not sufficient quality under Consumer rights act 2015. Taken to their sister garage as closer to me and car was in limp mode. One I bought it from couldn't even be bothered to call me back. Clearly an issue with part to have such a catastrophic failure at only 3 years and 15k.

I've just had to replace my mechatronics kit + clutch pad kit. Hugely disappointed with VW, in fact I would never buy a VW again, car is just under 5 yrs old. Thats what the dealership has told me, costing over €2k to fix

That's cheap, the Mech is more than that here. Careful what else you buy as that box is made by LUK and used in other none VAG cars.

Golf GTE '16
First I got 12v battery error
Then I got Hybrid system error
Then I got Gearbox error
This all happened within 2 weeks in this order, I consider if that is not a manufacture fault?
Looks like if the 12v battery is going bad that it could damage the mechatronic.
Fixing a new battery cost arround ÂŁ200 wich is oki, but fixing the mechatronic cost is arround ÂŁ3500 :(

Anyone heard of this problem?
I've got the same problem with my GTE '67, the main dealer are trying to charge me ÂŁ4.5K to replace it. Been asking around and it does sound like a VW fault with their DSG gearboxes. I can't understand why VW in the UK haven't taken up the liability on this. Absolutely fuming, this will be the last VW I ever purchase

@mcnaliz What is the VIN? Careful what you buy otherwise, the DQ200 box is made by LUK and used in other makes of car as well with the same problem.

I have a 2017 Golf TDI and have been told it's ÂŁ3000 to replace the mechatronic unit. VW UK refuse to pay, despite my telling them I know this is a known issue, with successful cases win in other countries. My car has done just over 50k miles. Have asked them to escalate to the executive complaints team and provide me with details for the ombudsman. I too am going to complain about the quality of goods on a car that cost more than ÂŁ30k. Disgusted with their attitude and, after buying three new golfs, and having 5 in total over the years, will never, ever, buy one again or recommend them to anyone. Currently have an emissions claim pending against them and wish someone would start a class action suit for this too! Appalled.

What is the cars VIN? We change around one a month but have done two this month already.

I've had this problem after buying a 19 plate tiguan with 18000 mileage from a reseller. Fortunately, they covered the cost, but what a way to start with a car I've just purchased... I'm wondering if I should sell and go for something else to avoid the new mechatronic going faulty

If it is genuine VW and new then it has a two year dealer backed warranty and the replacements seem to be much better.

Thanks for this. Yep, this was done via the proper channels and by VW (the car reseller are vw approved too).

I'm not sure if this helps, but on the invoice they ordered this mechatronic replacement part: 0GC325025EZ3E

I can't really find if its the 'revised replacement' though.

Looks like a genuine part so IF it failed within two years, the seller would have to fax their TPS invoice to a VW dealer of your choosing and the dealer take it from there, that's the theory.

It looks like the error came back. I took it back to the showroom who were claiming that the car needed to be 'reprogammed' (not to entirely sure what that means, but I'll see it on the invoice to know more about it).

I would have thought this would have been done after changing the mechatronic, but maybe there was a reason it wasn't done.

Let's see how it goes.

It MUST have the basic settings performed and verified before handover. Reprogramming suggests reflashing the software which is possible, if they have the equipment. We were supposed to be doing one on a Leon yesterday but the part failed to arrive.

That sounds about right. When I enquired, they were going to hook it up with a computer of some sort.

From your experience, is this a common after replacing the mechatronic?

They always have to be set up and software version checked, really only the dealer system ODIS can do this.

There has been a widespread problem with VW mechatronics units leading to thousands of VWs being recalled in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. However, despite the fact that UK-built VWs use the same specification DQ200 gearbox as the Australian-built cars, with the units also built in the same factory, there have been no recalls in the UK. I am therefore interested to know who like myself may have had to replace their mechatronics unit and how old your car is? Would appreciate your input as I am wondering if there is a problem which VW UK is not acknowledging?
Have a GTE Golf 2015 but only just over 50k on it - Bought off Kia last year so complicated the whole process - After taking to 2 Kia garages for an engine warning light, been to VW 3 times and now they have taken the gear box out - Say its the Metronics but in their view better to replace the whole gear box at a cost of 10k I have a warranty that covers 6.5k leaving me 3.5k short - Who should pay this - Kia as the problem started a few months after I bought it and since continued - Still driving it ok which has not helped getting anything sorted.. VW or the warranty company ? Note left myself out of the choices.

You can have a specialist deal with that for a lot less but now they have taken the box out... what is the VIN?
