Quite obvious that there is an issue with these systems that VW do not want to take responsibility for.
They did when under warranty and into five years old on a dealer purchased dealer serviced car under their goodwill program but yours is over ten years old. The Mechatronic is part number 0AM 325 025 L Z1G and costs £1939.20 inc VAT plus installation, coding, setting up and oil. These are a Vehicle Intelligent Part special ordered from Germany in most cases and have to be paid for before ordering and the moment it is ordered cannot be canceled or returned. We have just had to wait months for one to fit next week, the customer had to wait so long he passed away... and I am not joking!

Might as well get a reconditioned box which comes with mechatronics for 1100
I can guarantee you that will be a pile of poo for that money, con, not recon.

I have a 2017 golf gt. fault code p173600 Position sensor for clutch 2 electrical error. Drives for 30 mins then goes into emergency mode. Also they’re a scraping heard when driving. I’ve got 3 year guarantee but even that might not cover it. Costs could be anything from £3000 to £7000. Apparently the parts are made in the Ukraine too which is also slowing the process down!

I thought it was China? What is the VIN?

Hi I have a 2016 GTE I got a warning on dash saying "hybrid drive error" which was quickly replaced with "gearbox error" take to workshop etc, I could only drive it in full electric mode. The local VW Indy garage has quoted me 4k to replace the failed mechatronic unit. Is there any way i am able to bring this price down? I just cant afford to get it fixed at that b price. They said they would only use the genuine parts as they have had bad experience's with refurbed mechatronic units.

I agree with them we refuse to fit refurbished electronics due to so many painful experiences. What is the cars VIN?

Nothing came through

There has been a widespread problem with VW mechatronics units leading to thousands of VWs being recalled in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan. However, despite the fact that UK-built VWs use the same specification DQ200 gearbox as the Australian-built cars, with the units also built in the same factory, there have been no recalls in the UK. I am therefore interested to know who like myself may have had to replace their mechatronics unit and how old your car is? Would appreciate your input as I am wondering if there is a problem which VW UK is not acknowledging?
Just got bill for 2.5k not pleased. Will be writing to vw. Amithindocha1@outlook.com my email if anyone wants to communicate

My Passat 2.0 GT 7 speed DSG recently failed - dashboard displayed a "no reverse" warning. Had it recovered to the dealer under my extended warranty - They diagnosed it as a faulty mechatronic ecu - They have had the car for 3 weeks so far and are still unable to order the replacement unit because there is no stock, and it needs to be shipped from Germany. Less than 50k on the clock. If I'm not able to renew my warranty for a reasonable price when its due to expire, there is absolutely no way I would keep the car with such expensive repairs and delays in obtaining parts.

Ironically, the dealer phoned me yesterday evening to say that the replacement part mysteriously arrived in a parts delivery and has now been fixed & is ready to be collected.
That happens, one of my customers was waiting for a DQ200 mech so long that he passed away two months before it turned up... Yours is a DQ381 and at the moment these are causing havoc after a software update.

Just had the dreaded hybrid / gearbox orange warning on my 2017 Passat GTE (60k miles on the clock). I'm based in Norway and have just been quoted 60k Norwegian (around 5k GBP) for a replacement Mechatronic from the main VW dealer here. It's a year out of warranty, and I'm wondering if I can attempt to apply some pressure on them on the cost, considering it's definitely a known issue?
I'm a bit gutted, I really enjoyed driving and owning this car but if I'm forced to pay this myself I don't see how I will ever want to buy another VW.
Thanks for any guidance or help on this.

If VW Norway are as useless as VW UK, you wouldn't stand a hope. It isn't just VAG that have these problems and with the proliferation of hybrids and EV's it is only going to get worse, but what the hell, it is saving the Fjords isn't it... 🐮 💩
